The first half mile is a narrow passage with sharp turns requiring good boat control skills.  Additionally, there may be some deadfall in the first half mile from last winter.  Optionally bring a hand saw or clippers if a passage needs to be opened up.  The remainder of the trip has been cleared by an outfitter. Then the Hospitality branch joins the Great Egg and it becomes wider with a bit more current and fewer twists and turns than other South Jersey rivers.  Just before the end of the trip there is a fun opportunity for easy surfing at the Weymouth Furnace old dam remnants.  The trip time for this 9.9 mile paddle is approximately 5.5 hours.  We will take a break and eat lunch along the way.  The Great Egg Harbor River is 50 - 60 minutes from the Philadelphia Canoe Club.

Meet at Penny Pot Park Eighth Ave, just East of Route 73, Folsom, NJ: Coordinates 39.57542243707813, -74.82246119289115.  We will drop off the boats and leave participants there to look over them while we shuttle our cars to Weymouth Furnace.  There are no bathrooms at Penny Pot Park.

Take Out: Weymouth Furnace, 2050 Weymouth Rd, Mays Landing, NJ.  Coordinates: 39.51595581923851, -74.78060033612624.  At the end of the trip, we will use the vehicles left at Weymouth Furnace to take drivers back to Penny Pot to get their vehicles and get everybody and their boats back together. There are porta potties at Weymouth Furnace in the warm weather months.
