Trip, Delaware River, Tinicum to Lambertville, Class 1 and 1+ Rapids and Moving Water

A pretty section of the Delaware River lined by wooded bluffs and rock cliffs. The river has smooth waters, simple well-spaced riffles and class 1 and 1+ rapids.  Participants should have basic river reading and boat control skills and some prior experience paddling through class 1 and 1+ rapids.  The time on the water for this 15 mile paddle is approximately 5 hours.  We will take breaks and eat lunch along the way.  The Delaware river is approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes from the Philadelphia Canoe Club.Meet at

Tinicum Park River Access Parking, 963 River Road, Upper Black Eddy, PA 18920  Coordinates: 40.50677004213892, -75.06810031127195.  We will drop off the boats and leave several participants there to look over them while we shuttle our cars to Tinicum Park.  There are bathrooms (red building) across the road within the park from the parking lot.

Take Out at Lambertville Boat Ramp, 3 Station Ct, Lambertville, NJ 08530  Coordinates: 40.360706482202524, -74.94464157409796. At the end of the trip, we will use the vehicles that we left at Lambertville to take drivers back to Tinicum Park to get their vehicles and get everybody and the boats back to Lambertville.  There are bathrooms above the boat ramp at Lambertville.

To Go On This Trip: Click "REGISTER" and complete the registration Information.  Participants must have completed an American Canoe Association (ACA) Waiver.  The ACA is updating their online waiver platform.  In the interim all participants must complete a paper waiver the morning of the trip if you did not already complete one on a 2026 trip.  You will need your ACA membership number to complete the waiver.  Individuals who are not ACA members must pay $10 cash for a 1 day event membership the morning of the trip.

Requirements: 

  • Transportation of your boat and gear to the trip location.
  • Wear a PFD while on the water and you should have a whistle.
  • Wear quick drying clothes suitable for getting wet.  If the weather is cool dress in layers and have a set of dry clothes with you in the boat.
  • Have a set of dry clothes with you in the boat.

  • Protect your toes, wear water or close-toed shoes.

Suggestions (for your comfort):

  • Bring water to drink and a lunch.
  • Bring a dry bag or waterproof container for your personal belongings/extra clothes.
    Have a secure place to carry your car keys.
  • Have a set of dry clothes in your car if you want to change for the ride home.
