Annual Cheat River Festival

The Cheat river and it's tributaries require class III whitewater skills and a reliable river roll.  Cold weather gear is good to have too.

CHEAT RIVER FESTIVAL is the greatest whitewater festival of the year that isn't called Gauleyfest.  Some even prefer it's laid back, family friendly atmosphere.  The event kicks off with a mass start race at 5pm on friday.  On saturday their are opportunities to paddle the Cheat, Upper Yough, and often the Lower Big Sandy and Top Yough.  The Cheat is located just north of Albright, WV on route 26. There will be live music, tons of food, vendors and of course paddling.
