Rescue Skills for Paddlers

 Rescue Skills Class - June 20, 2026

10 am to 2 pm

Instructors: Manny Ayala & Jere Downs

All level paddlers (canoe or kayak - novice or skilled) - may participate to review rescue skills and learn new ones.

Skills to be reviewed and taught: 

1. Getting back in your boat in open water

2. Rope skills - throwing and Z drags

3. Cold water awareness and clothing - what to do/not to do

4. Review of first aid essentials

5. Equipment discussion, throw ropes, spare paddles, extra clothes.

There will be a short classroom time but will spend most of the time in the water.

Things to bring:

Water to drink, snacks or a lunch.

Change of clothes.
