Trip, Lehigh Canal and River, Moving Water, Class 1

Paddle the Lehigh Canal from Sand Island Access Point, Bethlehem, PA to Canal Park, Allentown, easy portage to the Lehigh River and paddle back to Sand Island Access Point.  One additional portage around a canal lock.

A great beginner run.  Enjoy a tranquil paddle in the Lehigh Canal and then paddle the Lehigh River back to Sand Island Access Point.  This section of the  Lehigh River is fairly undeveloped and attractive; the river water is mostly smooth with some ripples and a few islands.  Anticipated trip time for this 9-mile paddle is approximately 4 hours. We will take breaks and eat lunch along the way.
