A friend of mine told me about this performance on an island in the Schuylkill, and I thought it might be of interest:

Constants ..a performance journey in history along the Schuylkill River

Movement Brigade presents CONSTANTS, a performance journey exploring how the Schuylkill River has been a constant factor in the lives of Philadelphians since the inception of the city. Audience members travel with performers on land and in canoes, witnessing first-hand stories from the river's past. The Lenape Tribe. Runaway slaves. Water-borne diseases, and the shadfish's journey of rebirth. The history of Philadelphia is layered and complex, and many stories have not had the chance to come alive, lying in the shadows of more iconic symbols such as Benjamin Franklin and the Liberty Bell. CONSTANTS brings to life some of these lesser known tales.

dance, music, theatre and sculpture

Crafted using dance, music, theater and sculpture, audience members are led through an intricate performance journey. They are taken through a forest, boarded onto a canoe, rowed out to Peter's Island, and serenaded under the Columbia Railroad Bridge, all the while hearing and witnessing history first hand in the evening light of the Schuylkill River.
